Welcome!

Had another great summer in beautiful Nova Scotia and it is time to get back to work. The Nova Scotia Folk Art Festival was humming as always. Unfortunately, the news from the artists in Southwestern Nova Scotia was not good. Business in general has slowed to a crawl due to the lack of tourists as a direct result of no ferry from Yarmouth to Maine. Hope the Provincial NDP wake up and realize what a detriment this has been to the whole province.

Doug Dorken's featured piece "Mackeral Sky" sold at auction for $1000.00 matching the highest paid bid for featured pieces at the festival. A number of pieces by Doug have been added to this site. Other additions are: a large goose by Eddie Mandaggio, boat and oxen by Bradford Naugler, a pig by Barry Colpitts and more to come. Please bear with me as the site gets a much needed update. Still have lots of fantastic folk art available. Regards!

LunenbergFrom the Heart Folk Art began on a road trip home from Nova Scotia in 2003. I am from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia but live in Toronto, Ontario. I have been collecting Folk Art, hand-carved and painted wooden sculptures, for a few years and after my family's first visit to the Nova Scotia Folk Art Festival decided to share my passion with others. The quirky, whimsical characters always bring a smile to your face and are pieces of art to be shared with your family and handed down for generations. These self-taught artists are very friendly Maritimers, each with his/her own personal style of carving and painting.

This site was created to give you an example of what is available in the gallery. Please call for more information and/or to make an appointment. All prices shown are in Canadian Funds. .
