Donald Boudreau

Donald Boudreau was born in 1920, living his whole life in St Bernards, Nova Scotia. He was a carpenter by trade working for a large lumberyard in the area. When Donald retired from the company, he continued to make doors and sashes in his workshop at home with his son’s assistance. When his son moved to a larger building, Donald retired from carpentry work and started carving. He attended a craft show where he met someone who asked him to carve a bird. He started carving small birds. The more people bought, the more Donald became interested in carving. He made small birds, seagulls, men, women, men holding fish, women holding babies, whirligigs and more. Unfortunately Donald lost interest in carving sometime during 1978-79, approximately 3 years prior to his death in February 2000. A few of his pieces remain with his children, the rest with collectors. ref. Mrs. Donald Boudreau, August 10,2004.
