Garfield Campbell

Garfield Campbell was born on Prince Edward Island in 1919. He grew up on a farm and is one of eight children. He served overseas in the Italy and Holland during WWII. After returning home from the warhe worked for many years as a heavy operator in highway construction. He retired and married at the age of 65 and moved to the south shore of Nova Scotia. Garfield started carving in 1992. Most of his carvings are of farm life, plowing, logging, threshing, picking potatoes, square dancing, fiddlers, horses and buggies, mowing hay and other daily farm activities. Garfield is still a very active 80 year old, cutting grass in the summer and chopping his own firewood. He carves during the long winter days, creating memories from his past.
