Ian Fancey
Ian Fancey was born in 1940 in Westville, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. He served twenty-seven years as a Meterologist in the Navy. Following this, he spent 15 years as an Antique dealer near Pugwash, N.S. where he resides with his wife Marilyn. Ian began creating Folk Art in November 1994. He works with kiln dried pine and acrylic paint, creating whimsical sculptures but feels his nautical decorated furniture and accessories are his forte.
His work has gone to collectors' homes in provinces and states from coast to coast in North America and to England, France, Germany and Norway. He is currently represented by galleries in Mahone Bay, Lunenburg and Parrsboro in Nova Scotia and Toronto, Ontario. Ian has attended the N.S. Folk Art Festival since 1998.
His belief is that if a person has a better feeling after seeing a piece of his work, he had acheived his goal.
