Sid Howard
Sid Howard was born in 1913 and died in 1991 in Sydney, Cape Breton, N.S. He was a carver of naive work in polychromed wood. Sid is one of the original recognized Nova Scotia Folk Artists. His subjects included people, animals, birds and fish.
He also made garden figures from discarded telephone poles. He lost many of his carvings in the late 1960's due to a fire. Sid has been featured in the National Film Board video " Folk Art Found Me," Nova Scotia Folk - Canada's Cultural Heritage (1989);
