Bubby Mooers
Clarence (Bubby) Mooers was born on May 13, 1925 in Milton. Queens County, N.S. He was a carpenter by profession. His first carvings were crooked knife handles, a hobby Bubby picked up from his father. He carved animals and people on his handles. Next, Bubby carved life sized people and animals. He would glue together thirty to forty layers of planks rather than use whole logs. He used a chain saw, hammer, chisel and belt sander to carve his pieces. His work can be found in many private and public collections including the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. Unfortunately, Bubby Mooers passed away in 2002.
