Jean Marc Poirier
Jean Marc Poirier is back after taking a break from carving since 2004. He is an Acadian who was born in the Magdalen Islands in 1949. He has lived in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia for 9 years. He has been a fisherman all of his life and has worked in a fish processing plant.
He started carving folk art when the Government made changes to the fishing industry. He needed something else to do so his wife Judy encouraged him to start carving. He creates birds, sheep. pigs, fish, shopping ladies, twig people and many other whimsical characters.
Jean Marc's colourful creations are quickly gaining in popularity and can be found in many galleries in Nova Scotia.
