Clarence Saulnier
Clarence Saulnier was born in 1932 in Meteghan River. He lived in LaButte, on the French Shore of Nova Scotia. Clarence served in the Korean War and was a bachelor his whole life. He worked in the electrical department of A.F. Theriault and Sons, one of the largest, privately owned shipyards in Canada's Atlantic region, for 30 years. He took up carving as a hobby, just before he retired. He was well known in the area for his wood carvings which were based on local culture. He also carved detailed boats similar to those that he worked on in the shop. Unfortunately, Clarence died on September 30, 2006.
